The treatment process of a lowgrade refractory gold ore containing sulfide minerals and carbonaceous matters was studied in this work. The gold extraction of this ore by allsliming cyanidation was only %. Hence, a pretreatment was necessary. In this paper, a flotationpreoxidationcyanide leaching process was developed.

refractory gold,9) Haque K E used microwave to dispose of arsenical pyrite and gold concentrate with pyrite, the gold leaching rate reached 98%.10) Liu Quanjun etc. made a test for a gold mine in Guizhou province. The ore without microwave pretreatment could be hardly leached in cyanide. On the other hand the cyanide leaching of gold ore

Abstract Double refractory gold ores, such as Barrick''s Goldstrike ore, contain both pyrite and carbonaceous matter and the latter results in the loss of gold from solution during cyanide leaching. One possible remedy is to roast the ore and thus oxidize the pyrite and remove the organic carbon. In this research, microwave roasting of a double refractory gold ore was investigated as an ...

For processing the deposits that contain refractory gold ore, a separate ROT plant with a nominal capacity of Mt/y will be installed adjacent to the existing Sabodala plant, with processing expected to begin in 2023. The ROT design is based on the use of bacterial oxidation (BIOX® technology) to expose the gold that is occluded within ...

Gold processing Gold processing Mining and concentrating: The nature of the ore deposit determines the mining and mineral processing techniques applied. Oxide ore deposits are frequently of such low grade (, 3 to 10 parts per million) that extensive mineral processing cannot economically be justified. In this case they are merely shattered by explosives and then piled into heaps for ...

Dec 10, 2013· The present paper attempts to assess the effects of microwave irradiation on the leachability of refractory gold ores. Characteristics of the crystal structure and microstructure of the ores were determined by xray structural analysis (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) before and after microwave irradiation. Compared to conventional processes, microwave leaching .

Dec 10, 2011· Currently, EMR Microwave Technology, Fredericton,, Canada is conducting pilotscale microwave pretreatment tests on various kinds of refractory gold concentrates, ores and tailing. AlHarahsheh et al., 2005 54, have investigated the leaching kinetics of chalcopyrite under the influence of microwave treatment.

The microwave I used was an 850W microwave (model: GE 3850W3W081A), I used regular bricks to build the hearth to keep the crucible and a siliconcarbide material as the heating element (I also used building insulation to try and keep the heat directed inwards, a terrible terrible mistake).

Sep 01, 2007· With regards to the application of microwaves to refractory gold ores, Haque, 1987a, Haque, 1987b has studied the microwave pretreatment of refractory sulphidic ores and achieved gold extractions of over 98%. However, there is no information published on the microwave processing of the double refractory gold ores.

Jul 18, 2013· In addition to the enhanced grindability, gold was released from the matrix of the host minerals at a coarser size, resulting in a significant increase in free gold recovery by gravity concentration. For a gold ore with a head grade of 6˙4 gt −1, the gold recovery improved from about 28% to 40% after microwave pretreatment.

Microwave pretreatment of a double refractory gold . Abstract Double refractory gold ores, such as Barrick''s Goldstrike ore, contain both pyrite and carbonaceous matter and the latter results in the loss of gold from solution during cyanide leaching.

A "refractory" gold ore is an ore that has ultra fine gold particles disseminated throughout its gold occluded minerals. These ores are naturally resistant to recovery by standard cyanidation and carbon adsorption processes. These refractory ores require pretreatment in order for cyanidation to be effective in recovery of the gold.

Microwave roasting of refractory ores is an attractive alternate to conventional thermal roasting. Temperature measurements and hence temperature control is a major problem which is obstructing the introduction of this new technology to mineral processing. ... The mathematical model was applied to two types of refractory gold ores viz ...

REFRACTORY GOLD. By definition, refractory gold ores contain gold that is resistant to extraction by conventional chemical processing and as a result responds poorly to traditional gold cyanidation techniques such as CarboninLeach (CIL), yielding less than 80% of the contained gold.

In this research, microwave roasting of a double refractory gold ore was investigated as an alternative method and the results were compared to those obtained by conventional roasting. The compositional changes of the ore during roasting were determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
