Note: I have adjusted the Carter Roller Guides for blade widths from 3/16" to 3/4" and had plenty of adjustment for all of them. After double checking all of the mounting and adjustment screws to be sure they were tight, I reinstalled the table and checked it for clearance with the lower guide assembly when tilted to 45degrees. No problems.

I believe that the rollers should put about 1/8 to 1/4" down pressure on the band saw blade. That should be plenty to make them spin. Either (a) you don''t have enough down pressure, or (b) the roller itself is not turning freely. Either way, you should figure out what the problem is and fix it. You need that pressure to saw consistently.

Ceramic guides work well, as long as you keep them adjusted. If you are a "set it and forget it" person, or operating a production mill with wider blades and power feed, roller guides may be a better choice. Roller guides, on the other hand, put between 1/8" to 1/4" downward deflection on the blade which holds the blade steady.
